We are delighted to announce that applications are now open for the CHEEERS: Developing Healthcare Together (DHT) professional MDT programme for 2024. The selected team will travel to Kisiizi Hospital in south-west Uganda for a 2 week period between Saturday 30th of March and Sunday 14th of April and work together with the staff of Kisiizi Hospital and within the wider community.

CHEEERS: DHT has previously co-ordinated eight successful, allied health professional volunteer MDT programmes from 2015 to 2023.

Currently, we are looking for experienced, motivated and flexible health professionals to take part in our 2024 programme. CHEEERS: DHT is recruiting clinical team members as well as team leaders. CHEEERS: DHT is offering you a unique opportunity to utilise your professional skills, knowledge and teamwork skills to work together with staff in Kisiizi Hospital Uganda.

Specifically, we are seeking health professionals from the following disciplines:

SALT, Pharmacy, Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, General Nursing (Palliative care experience desirable), Biomedical Physicists or Engineers. Please see below a document outlining the desired areas of experience.

The areas of experience noted above are to best support the expressed areas of need from our partner, Kisiizi Hospital.

The CHEEERS: DHT team for 2024 will depart for a 2 week period in March/April 2024.

A core part of CHEEERS: DHT ethos is that all funds raised go towards the projects that the charity supports. Therefore, volunteers self-fund their flights, accommodation while travelling, food and weekend trips. All fundraising goes directly to our projects in Uganda.

If you are interested in volunteering with CHEEERS: DHT on our 2024 programme, please see the information poster, draft itinerary and timelines below. The timelines include CHEEERS: DHT fundraising events as well as the mandatory team training days. Our programme will runs over approximately a 4-month period from when you are selected.

The mandatory training dates are essential to ensure thorough project planning, team building and training in advance of the CHEEERS: DHT projects in Uganda. Interested participants should ensure that they are available to attend all of the training days listed in advance of applying for the 2024 programme.

To ensure we get the best candidates to support our local partner, Kisiizi Hospital Uganda, all candidates are required to complete an application form and attend an interview.
